Berenice Abbott

Berenice Abbott’s earlier work was characterized by various types of architecture including an assortment of skyscrapers. Having originally studied sculpture in both New York and Paris Abbott later studied photography under Man Ray. Abbott would go on to be influenced by the works of Marcel Duchamp, Eugène Atget, and Julien Levy. Lastly, Abbott's inspiration to photograph skyscrapers way the way that skyscrapers were rapidly being built in New York to which she advocated for the documentation of this process.
