The Art of Skyscrapers
Hugh Ferriss
Hugh Ferriss worked as a delineator, or what we would refer to today as a render artist. Creating renderings of works ranging from the Chrysler Building to the Chicago Tribune building. Additionally, Ferriss’ later personal works are recorded in his The Metropolis of Tomorrow which is a book that observes the contemporary city and the buildings as well as projected trends in the city. Some of these trends include overhead traffic avenues, bridges with apartments, churches atop towers, and a return to past styles. To conclude his book Ferriss proposes a fictional look at how cities may look in the far future.
